Compact for a Sustainable Ventura County Ventura County Civic Alliance Compass Blueprint

Compass Vision Workshop

June 7, 2007

We need your help planning a sustainable future for Ventura County
What will Ventura County look like in the next generation when we grow to 1 million people? What type of housing andtransportation should weprovide to future residents? How should we protectour valuable open spaces?

Free and open to the public, this workshop will engage community members in answering the critical questions that will define the quality of life of Ventura County for years to come. How do we protect our agricultural resources while building new homes for new residents? How will we combat the rising tide of longer commutes and increasing travel between destinations? What types of transportation investments should we make now? How can we provide affordable housing to young families, the elderly, and communities of need?

Your critical input will help shape Ventura County’s future planning decisions. This innovative and hands-on mapping workshop simulates the growth expected to occur over the next several decades and asks residents to create their ideal growth scenario.
